Ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you a Class of 2009 graduate. And what an EXCITING day today was, lemme tell you. We had a graduation breakfast first where us graduates sat, ate some food and talked a little before it was time to get ready. Then when we started putting the gowns and hats on I got nervous. I was about to walk into a room with hundreds of people that will have their eyes on me. I did fine though, I did as instructed and walked slowly through the gym up to my seat at the front of the auditorium. My counselor's husband was the guest speaker, and I received an award for my contributions to the school's newspaper.
After some funny things were said/done at the ceremony, the stress came off of me. Especially when I saw everyone's reaction to a certain group of special guests who appeared to congratulate the class of 2009. Some of you might know
who they are.
They introduced the slideshow which was supposed to show photos of us with our classmates and clips of us stating what we'll miss about our school most and our favorite memories. Then they called us all up one by one to receive our diplomas/certificates/whatever, and we concluded the ceremony by moving our tossles. After that, I caught up with Christine (who showed up RIGHT as we were lining up to enter the gym) and some old friends I haven't seen in a long time. After that my family (as well as Christine and her parents) went to the Olive Garden down the street, and then I went home and my Uncle Eddy came to visit.
So overall, despite it being, well...SCHOOL, I will miss coming into that building every morning and seeing all of my friends in one homeroom. I didn't receive a diploma because I will also be attending the transition program my school has in order to ready me for college/the work world.
Well folks, tomorrow is my birthday and my last day at that school. I am returning for yearbook signings, a recording session, a visit from my former homeroom teacher, and a field trip and that is all. The chapter of my life that is high school will officially end there.
I'm tired now, good night.
